The HIV/AIDS virus is well over twenty years old. I
was diagnosed August of 1987
while serving in the United States
Navy. History has shown us that diseases take on
a life of their
own. It is important to me that those of us infected and affected
began to understand that we are no longer dying victims. We
are also no longer just receivers of Ryan White dollars or charity.
I was the co-founder of “Best Friends of DC”, as well as the first
Black Lesbian and Gay Pride Organizations. Our goals then were
to empower our communities to help each other and build for the future.
Through this newsletter hopefully we can help each other build a long
future for those of us living with HIV/AIDS.
