There are several regularly recurring events which are sponsored by and for Birmingham AIDS Outreach. We invite you to look over our events and to attend those that are of interest to you.
The Magic City AIDS Walk is an annual fund-raising event, sponsored by BAO. While BAO is the sponsor for the event, all of the ASO (AIDS Service Organizations) in the Birmingham metro area receive funds from the annual event.
The event is held in the early fall of each year (late September / early October). Groups, corporations, organiztions, and individuals are invited to particpate by solicting donations for the individual who will be walking the "AIDS walk route". Activities at the Walk begin mid-afternoon with entertainment, vendor booths, games for children etc. As the soon begins to lower in the sky the approximately one mile long walk begins, winding it's way through Birmingham's Five Points District.
Prizes and recognition are awarded to those groups and individuals collecting the most money through donations. In 2010, BAO partnered with http://firstgiving.org to help in the collection of donations.
Participants in the walk register at the FirstGiving website and then ask their friends, family members and co-workers to visit their personal donation page to pledge money.
2010 marks the 19th anniverary of the event.
BINGO 4 BAO is held in the basement of the Birmingham AIDS Outreach building on the First Monday of each month. Doors open at 6:00 PM with BINGO starting at 7:00 PM. Each month's scheduled game is supported (or sponsored) by a local business, organization or group of individuals. Cash prizes are awarded to the winner of each game. Refreshments area available for purchase but feel freel to Bring Your Own (including BYOB).
Each Bingo Night consists of a set of five (5) games with one or more additional QUICKIE GAMES. The first "set" of Bingo cards is $15.00, or two (2) sets for $20.00. Quickie Game Cards are $1.00 each.
Reservations are highly recommended (as available seating fills up fast, and may be made by contacting Karen Musgrove.
Please Note: You MUST be 19 years of age or older to enter the "Bingo Hall" during game play.
Passport to Dine is a series of dinner/cocktail parties held in multiple locations, by multiple hosts, on multiple dates. Guests to each of these various parties pays a fee to attend. The fees range from $25 to $100 (set by the host of the party) and all of the proceeds from the parties goes to Birmingham AIDS Outreach.
For every $25 that someone spends, attending one of the parties, they receive one entry in a grand prize drawing to be held at the finale party of the Passport to Dine season; The Bon Voyage Party.
The Bon Voyage Party brings all of the guests of each of the Passport to Dine parties together for entertainment, a silent and live auction, and the drawing for the Grand Prize Give-A-Way for that season.
Started in 2008, Passport to Dine usually takes place in the early spring of each year. Watch the BAO Website, as well as Facebook to find out when the next voyage begins. Until then...Happy Bon Voyage!

Arty Party is an annual art auction benefiting BAO. Local, regional, and international artists donate to this auction each year. Each year a local artist is chosen as the Featured Artist, and an honorary chair is chosen. The honorary chair is someone who has been a long time supporter of BAO and Arty Party. We typically have over 200 pieces of art and 100% of the proceeds are donated to BAO.
Our 22nd Annual Arty Party is scheduled for Sunday, May 19, 2013 at B&A Warehouse. The 2013 featured artist is Carol Misner and the honorary chairs are Bill Mason and Bob Scharfenstein. Carol is a wonderful local artist who supports many charities and nonprofit organizations in Birmingham. Her beautiful work can be seen in local, regional, and national galleries. Bill and Bob have been key supporters of Arty Party for many years. We are thrilled and honored to share this event with Carol, Bill, and Bob.
The admission is $50 and includes hors d'oeuvres and complementary wine and beer.
