Birmingham AIDS Outreach is a professional agency with a full-time staff providing client services and prevention education programs in the greater Birmingham and surrounding areas.
From January until June 2010 we have provided the following:
- Assisted over 370 pets in partnership with the Greater Birmingham Humane Society by donating pet food to 174 BAO clients
- Given out 257 Nutritional Supplement cases to clients
- Prevention Education Services
- Assisted 93 clients with clothing closet needs, from CE's Closet.
- Given out 895 Food vouchers to Piggly Wiggly so that clients may buy groceries
- Held 173 personal counseling sessions (all over an hour a piece)
- Given out 1, 369 food boxes to clients
- Assisted with the co-pays of over 950 prescriptions
- Assisted clients with Transportation (such as Bus Tokens or Gas Vouchers) in 2,837 instances
CE Watkin's Remembered
On July 11, 2010, the Board of Directors paid homage to a friend of the
organization and the community, (C. E. Watkins), by dedicating the BAO
Clothes Closet in his honor.
The clothes closet will hereafter be known as "C.E.'s Closet." Charles Edward (C. E.) established the clothes closet at BAO approximately 10 years ago. He had been the main custodian of the closet since it's inception, volunteering his time and energies to serve those in need in the Birmingham community.
